This is your chance to become a part of history! On September 29, 2018, the City of Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle will be celebrating the opening of the 50-year time capsule column located at the Helium Time Column Monument. These capsules were sealed in 1968, and have never been opened until now! A lot has changed since that time, and you will get a chance to glimpse at items, mementos, and documents that were stored in the time column capsules from this period. But, it doesn’t stop there. We will be refilling the capsules and would like to put items from this year, 2018, for future generations to see. Items that will be placed in the time capsule this year will not be seen again until 2093, 75 years from now!
